Hardened Pansies
Hardened Pansies
Early one Alaskan spring, before any living thing was showing it's face in our neighborhood, our friend, Shirley asked us to accompany her to Tach's Nursery to look for some plants that the local PTA could present to the teachers. I recall we purchased about 12 bunches of Pansies that day and one extra for ourselves. My first painting of this was not going very well. I had just heard about a technique where you transfer the flower petals onto the paper by beating the pigment out with a hammer using wax paper as a buffer. So I figured this was as good a subject as any to try it on. I was amazed at the clarity of the transfer. See if you can figure out which flowers are real and which are painted with watercolor!
